Intermediate (CP) Courses
The Club Pilot (CP) Course (7 days) £650 Book here
The CP course builds on the skills you learnt on your EP course and teaches you to become more self reliant and learn the art of soaring flight. The course will take at least six full flying days to complete and, just like the Elementary Pilot course, can be spread over a period (recommended maximum is six months). During the course you will learn how fly in stronger wind and to plan your flight in such a way that you can stay in the air for longer 'the art of soaring flight'. You will learn how to land on the side of the hill which saves walking up from the bottom. Then you start your soaring tasks and land back where you started from. Once you stay aloft soaring solo your smile will last for the rest of the course. From this stage we will visit different sites and build your skill and confidence at flying and assessing a variety of sites in a variety of conditions. When you start the CP course you should be looking to purchase your
own glider and equipment, so we offer the following 'all-in' package
where you can get your equipment and training together which saves you
money.
We are aware you have a choice, and during your training you may prefer other gliders etc, so we will gladly supply you with the glider, harness and parachute of your choice and provide un-biased advice throughout. We only provide the best available equipment to suit your needs. Throughout the course you will receive lectures which go into greater detail on the subjects of Air Law, Principles of Flight and Meteorology. You will be encouraged to read up on these subjects in preparation for your CP exam. With your CP flying tasks completed, a good pass mark in your exam (75% or more) and a successful final assessment by our Chief Flying Instructor should see your school days over. In due course, the BHPA will send you a Club Pilot rating card and pack, but please remember; although Club Pilot status is the highest rating gained in the School, it is the minimum requirement to allow you to go recreational flying. At this point you will need to join your local Paragliding Club and it is within this club environment that your flying skills will develop as you fly from different sites with friends and other club members. Foreign TripsWe run foreign flying holidays throughout the year so when you are close to attaining your CP we can invite you to join us so that you can complete your CP course and enjoy your first high flights (2000ft +). In stunning locations around the world. We will also introduce you to mountain flying (and weather) and basic thermalling skills. Once you have gained your CP and you are ready, then you can join the team on advanced courses from improving thermalling techniques and building airtime to security in flight maneuvers over the water. Escape is a BHPA (British Hangliding and Paragliding Association) registered school. For more information on the BHPA visit the BHPA website at www.bhpa.co.uk |
